Summary of the role

As an Advanced Database Engineer, you’ll work as part of an experienced agile team to maintain our more than 1500 databases and bring them to the next level and newest technologies. You are member of a team, which takes care about running the Test- and Production environment on different technologies working on highest standards for Service Level Agreements and Change Management around the globe.

Your responsibilities

  • As an Advanced Database Engineer, your goal each day will be to be a valued team worker. As the team is global distributed with locations in America, Australia, India, and Europe you will guarantee to provide together with all other DBAs a smooth 24 / 5 support.
  • You’ll participate to installations, upgrades, migrations, patching and moving our DBs to Microsoft AZURE cloud. You will take care about the documentation of our environment.
  • Your main duties will include beside the maintenance of our database infrastructure the developing and validating our procedures, creating automated flows, preparing, and performing upgrades.

About the ideal candidate

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent
  • Comfortable with Oracle RDBMS especially version 18c and above.
  • Strong core technology skills with hands-on exposure on latest or mainstream engine versions and features (2 RDBMS is a plus)
  • Familiar with backup and restore concepts
  • Comfortable with replication technologies like Golden Gate and Data Guard
  • Very good skills from monitoring and parameter handling
  • Passion and curiosity in scripting languages (e.g. Python, Shell, Ansible)
  • Able to work independently and receives a moderate level of guidance only for overall topics or strategies
  • Proactive mindset in mitigating/avoiding foreseeable issues
  • Comfortable with Change Management Processes like ITIL
  • Good communication skills and ability to drive results in a complex, multicultural environment and at different hierarchical levels
  • Diligence, analytical and conceptional thinking skills
  • Good written and oral communication abilities, to drive results in a multicultural environment
  • RDBMS programming certification is a plus
  • Experience in automation of Database platforms is a plus
